Missed You and more

I havent been able to post in the last few days and I missed you guys. You were on my mind.  Anyway I had a great weekend with my son. Saturday we stayed home and I seriously didn’t do much work as I wanted to just spend some serious chill time with him as the next few months I will hardly be there on the weekends and Sunday he visited with his sister and cousin. He loved it. It’s so nice seeing him interact with other children. Then I realize just how independent he is. He just leaves me alone and goes and do his thing. He is getting older aaaahhhh boy. Next month he will be two.

When I look at him I think back of my daughter who died on Jan 19, 2008 at Bustamante Childrens Hospital a few hours after delivery at 7 months and at times its bitter-sweet. I wonder where she is and if she is ok. Things like this make you wonder alot about what happened to a person when they die.  She is with me constantly and I am glad I got to hold her. I however try to enjoy the time I have with my son and make the most of  it and move on. I also know given the difficult pregnancy that it was, that maybe it was not meant to be and try to accept it and life for what it is right now.

I am so emotional this morning I don’t know why. I havent cried since thinking about her in awhile.

Anyway I rarely discuss it but I do feel mothers who suffer the loss of a child carry it with them always and need to talk and share more as painful as it is. Just maybe someone else might benefit.  At the time my daughter died I heard of someone who had lost 3 persons in their immediate family and I said to myself sometimes when you think you have it bad there is someone else out there having a harder time.

Take care and walk good.

Stella Industries: Chic Mini Fashions for Girls

For those shoppers among us please see below these deals as seen on people:

Ever wonder where some of Hollywood’s pint-size fashion darlings like Suri Cruise and Nahla Aubry get their adorable duds? Then, check out children’s clothing line Stella Industries. Founded by L.A-based designer Ary Park in 2003, it features mini flowing dress, colorful striped tops and cool denim pieces that your little one will love.

“When I got pregnant I thought, I just want to be a mom and spend time with my kid. Then I had a girl and I was so inspired. I was constantly making stuff for her,” shared Park, who spent years in the showbiz world as a producer for Saturday Night Live and various television networks before starting her line.

Lucky for her and you, her fashions caught on with regular and celeb moms, alike. Suri and Nahla both have the Starlet dress ($85). Other standouts include the Sienna Tunic ($42.50) and the Denim Cuff Jeans ($33).

And despite how fancy each piece looks, the collection, which runs from size 1 to 16, is really easy to wear and care for. “I like having thoughtful details but a lot of children’s clothing are mini versions of grown-up clothes with lots of buttons, fasteners and zippers,” says Park. “Also, a lot are dry clean only. That doesn’t work for everyday moms like me.”

And the styles are always kid-friendly because Park’s 10-year-old daughter continues to be her source of inspiration. “She’s my number one muse, helper and chief critic. She’s also a fan.”

Shop the line at stellaindustries.com. Added bonus: They’re offering Moms & Babies readers a special discount. When you enter code: Peop11 at checkout, you’ll receive 20 percent off your order until June 1.

What A Day!!!

Today I decided to keep my son home from the nursery because it was rainy and I didn’t want to send him out since he is recovering from a cold and boy what a day it was. Granted I love him but working from home and having him around wanting to play all the time and doing my weekly washing etc. proved to be a challenge. This is a busy period for my business and I needed so much to focus and concentrate today as we have alot of events coming up. My clients depend on me to get it right and to make sure every detail of their wedding is covered and perfect. This takes months and hours of focus and lots of telephone calls, dealing with the constant emails and calls from the brides and their families and friends, negotiating and as I am a perfectionist I obsess constantly and I have to this for every client. I cannot eat the day of an event. Once I get them down the aisle I can breathe. For me it gets easier after that.

By 11:00am I gave up trying to juggle it. I went to bed 12:00am the night before and was up from 3:30am and I was exhausted. Dont know why I am so tired lately. It’s not the norm, maybe I need to check it out.

So I played and did my housework and watch Bolt and Asafa. Kinda hoped Asafa would have gotten it as he needs to win and good race and he is in good form.

After the race took my son out for a drive as he loves that and came back home. He started acting up and being rude so  had to punish him in the naughty corner. There were the screams etc and sometime at times like these I think I am going to get high blood pressure. I threatened to call he father as he is deadly scared of that, no help. So I just decided to be firm and tell him to shut it up this minute. Well it worked. I guess he saw I was oh so serious.

Well after that he was his usual nice, pleasant self. I even got to send my clients some email around 5:30am. We went to bed by 7:00am and by 9:00pm I was up again folding clothes, packing his bag for nursery tomorrow, getting a snack and now blogging.

Oh how I love my life and these moments of me time!!!

Review: iCandy Peach Stroller

Review: iCandy Peach Stroller

Courtesy iCandy

Having a baby is a ride of a lifetime and you need a stroller that can keep up.

Enter the iCandy Peach ($900), a sleek set of tot-friendly wheels that celebs including Elton JohnPenélope Cruz,Jewel and more have already snapped up.

Want to know how it rides? Check out our review below:

Things We Like: Designed in the U.K., the iCandy Peach offers both forward and rear facing positioning so parents can interact with their baby while out and about. And when their wee one wears out, the seat easily adjusts into a lay flat position.

We also love that there’s ample storage space and an adjustable push bar. Plus, it folds up with ease and sports a strap that you can throw over your shoulder.

Things We Didn’t Like: The downside, however, is that you must first remove the actual seat before folding up the base, which gives you more to carry and would make it difficult to hold your baby while trying to store it.

And although it says it will hold a child up to 50 pounds, an average sized 3-year-old’s head will definitely hit the top of the canopy cover. However, it is removable if you’re okay with more sun exposure.

Moms & Babies Rating: Those caveats aside, the iCandy Peach is a fashionably smooth ride that is sure to make your adventures with the baby, well, just peachy.

Oprah’s Words Of Wisdom

I am a big Oprah fan and in closing she left some words of wisdom that I think affects all areas of life. See below:

Here are her most Life Coach-y quotables:

1. “What is all life? What is every flower, every rock, every tree, every human being? Energy. And you’re responsible for the energy you create for yourself, and you’re responsible for the energy that you bring to others. Don’t wait for somebody else to save you, to complete you, to fix you.”

2. “Each one of you has your own platform. You can help somebody, you can listen, you can forgive. My greatest wish for all of you … is that you carry whatever you are supposed to be doing and don’t waste any more time.”

3. “In every decision, I wait and listen for the guidance that’s greater than my meager mind.”

4. “There is a difference between thinking you deserve to be happy and knowing that are worthy of happiness.”

5. “Live from the heart of yourself. You have to make a living, I understand that, but you also have to know what sparks the light in you so that you in your own way can illuminate the world.”

Babies in your 20′s or 30′s

Ok. I know there may be some debate on this. But anyway here goes. You know your mother always said or at least mine always said if you get pregnant etc etc I am going to kill you.

Well I waited and waited, I did the school thing, did the career thing, did the marriage thing etc. and now here I am at 30 something, single and just had my first child and seriously I now wish I did this alot earlier. I wish I did it in my 20′s as I just don’t have the energy and stamina needed.  Its hard. Do all mothers feel like this or is it just because I am older?

Sheryl Crow On Disciplining – and Bribing – Her Kids

Sheryl Crow On Disciplining – and Bribing – Her Kids

Naomi Kaltman

Sheryl Crow may be a rock star, but when it comes to parenting, she’s a strict mom.

The singer credits her own mother with helping her realize the importance of disciplining sons Wyatt Steven, 4 and Levi James, 1.

“My mom said it’s going to hurt you a lot more than it’s going to hurt them,” Crow, 49, explained during the Tom’s of Maine Simply White web chat.

“So when I would get upset about putting him in a time out or being stern with him as Wyatt was going through the terrible 2s and challenging 3s, she would say, ‘Those things are not going to be memorable for him. What’s memorable for him is gonna be the feeling of safety.’”

But that doesn’t mean Crow, who’s dating Doyle Bramhall II and recently released the cookbook If It Makes You Healthy, won’t bribe her kids to get them to eat right.

“I’m all about bribery when it comes to my little kids eating, particularly my 4-year-old,” the musician admitted. “‘If you’ll try this, Wyatt, you can have some of this.’ That’s how we do it.”
