Special delivery for Tia Mowry!

The Game star, 32, and husband Cory Hardrict welcomed a son on Tuesday, June 28 in Los Angeles, her rep tells PEOPLE. He weighed in at 8 lbs.

Mowry announced the pregnancy in January, telling PEOPLE she felt “sexy and empowered.”

Although baby has now arrived, Mowry’s pregnancy will be televised when she and her twin sister Tamera return to the airwaves on their new reality show, Tia & Tamera, premiering in August on the Style Network.

“I think she secretly thinks my son is her son too! I mean, twins share everything, right?” Mowry joked recently. “She is always kissing, rubbing, patting and hugging my belly.”

Mowry and Hardrict, also an actor, tied the knot in April 2008 in Santa Barbara.

Laila Ali: The Breastfeeding Mistake I Didn’t Make Again

Laila Ali: The Breastfeeding Mistake I Didn’t Make Again

Alison Dyer

Her second child, daughter Sydney J., meant a second chance at breastfeeding for Laila Ali — and the mother-of-two was ready to do anything to prevent making the same error she made with now 2½-year-old son C.J. Muhammad.

“About a week into it I made the mistake of giving my son a bottle so my husband [Curtis Conway] could help, and then the baby started liking the bottle, and I ended up having to pump,” Ali, who eventually exclusively pumped, tells Best for Babes.

“I wasn’t going to give up or stop. I feel like God gave us, as moms, our own custom formula specifically for our child. Why would I want to go buy something from the store instead, that’s made in a factory?”

Fortunately, nursing her daughter has been smooth sailing and everyone is thriving, including Conway, who has found other ways to bond with his 3-month-old baby girl.

“He knew that I didn’t want to introduce the bottle too early with Sydney, but it wasn’t like I had to say, ‘Honey, you’re going to be able to help in other ways,’” Ali explains.

“He already knows, when it comes to the baby and feeding the baby and doing things the best way, I’m in the lead as far as that’s concerned. We don’t have an issue with that.”

After all, adds Ali, nursing is a mother’s right — and shouldn’t be challenged!

“Breastfeeding is a job made for moms to do. I don’t see arguing with that, though I am sure people will,” she says. “It’s such a short period of time in a child’s life that you are going to be breastfeeding, so let Mom do her thing.”

Actress Richards now mother of 3

Actress Richards now mother of 3

Associated Press – June 30, 2011 1:52 AM PDT

NEW YORK – Denise Richards has added a third little one to her family, this time through adoption.

The 40-year-old actress recently adopted a newborn baby girl. Richards named the infant Eloise Joni after her mother, who succumbed to cancer four years ago. Richards’ representative, Jill Fritzo, on Wednesday confirmed the adoption.

Richards has two daughters by her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. The actress and former model says 7-year old Sam and 5-year old Lola couldn’t be happier with their new sister and feel blessed.

Richards and Sheen had a turbulent marriage that Richards wrote about in a memoir, scheduled to be released in July.

How Time Flies

So over the last two weeks I have witnessed how quickly my son really does grow. He was two last Friday and I felt an incredible sense of how far we have come. How only it seems like just yesterday I held him as I tiny baby in my arms.

Fast forward to now and he is a curious energetic child who is saying no to everything, is starting to put sentences together, who is very helpful and who loves to read thank God and also loves to watch TV.  He is my little companion. Just last night I was seasoning up some chicken and he wanted to help so I allowed him to shake the powered seasoning on. He looked so proud doing it and kept asking, “more mummy more”. It made me realize how these simple things mean alot to a two-year old to be able to do it.  So instead of trying to protect him so much I will allow him to do some simple tasks that wont endanger him.

He has also settled down a bit.  There are temper tantrums but not as much. In two weeks he went from crying for everything under the sun to crying only sometimes for this I am most grateful as I don’t know how much longer I could have tolerated the constant crying.

I still have potty training in mind as I am stilling dying to take diapers off my monthly budget. No success yet so we will see.

All in all it has been a great two weeks and I thank God that he is healthy and ok.

The Things We Do

Saw this in the Jamaica Observer thought I would share:

‘Are you going to take mommy to jail now?’

 Monday, June 20, 2011

THEY say when you become a parent, it’s to decide forever to have a little part of your heart go walking around outside your body. What they don’t tell you is that most of your life will also be spent living for your kids, and their activities. And when you err, that little piece of your heart will let you know in no uncertain terms — time and again — how you let them down.

Here some parents share their parenting mistakes, as told by their kids — sad, funny, even heart-wrenching stories of mommy or daddy messing up and the little kids who sometimes hold a grudge for years.

 Did mommy mess up again?

Did mommy mess up again?

1/1

Tanya:

I was trying to get my five-year-old to do her math homework in the car in traffic on the way home. She wasn’t having any of it, so I told her that if she completed it, there would be a bounceabout at school the next day for all the kids who finished their work. She went silent and got to work, and when she finished, she confronted me. “See, I finished. And I know you were lying, mommy. Now tell me some more about that FAKE bounceabout that’s going to be at school”. And she rolled her eyes. I learned then that lying never pays, as she reminds me every morning when we get to the school gate.

Susanne:

My three-year-old daughter had an eczema breakout and a little girl in pre-school would say “eeww” everytime she sat near her, my daughter reported. “What a brat!” I said when I heard. Well, the next day I got a call from the teacher, that my daughter had yelled, “my mommy says you’re a big, fat brat” to the little girl, leaving her in tears.

Donna:

My son was in primary school and there was an event his at school and all the parents went but I forgot. I was the only parent who didn’t show up, he told me tearfully after. I almost cried, but couldn’t let him know that. I still feel bad today, and he’s in high school.

Davia:

Career Day wasn’t high on my agenda, but apparently it’s a big deal to the kids at my daughter’s primary school. Well one Career Day I sent her in uniform, and she was so miserable that I still feel bad for what I did, even to this day because I made her feel left out.

Anna:

My six-year-old son got really obsessive about his seatbelt use, after learning to read and then seeing one of those “seatbelts save lives” billboards. He’d buckle up as soon as he got in the car, and always encouraged me to do the same. One day I was just heading to the mall, just a two minute drive away, so I told him not to bother wrestling with the belt which had stuck in the slot. Well lo and behold, we were stopped by the cops, and the kid told the cop, “Yes, she ran the red light and almost put out our lights; and yes, she told me not to wear a seatbelt even though it saves lives. Are you going to take my bad mommy to jail now?”

Evan:

I was experimenting with home remedies on a cut my two-year-old son got, and put tea tree oil on the finger which burned him. One day we were at the doctor’s, months after the incident, and when the cut had already healed. He told the doctor, “my daddy put THREE HOT OILS in my cut!” The doctor was concerned, and I had a lot of explaining to do, to try to convince him that I didn’t pour hot oil on my son’s skin.

Workout By Walking

Harley Pasternak: Kick Off Your Post-Baby Workout by Walking

Courtesy Harley Pasternak

Blink, and you’ll miss it! That’s how quickly stars get back in shape after welcoming a baby, but celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak says regaining one’s pre-baby body is easier to manage than most people think.

“Walking as much as possible is something that I tell moms to really do,” he told PEOPLE. “As often as you can with your baby, that’s really important. Just some way to keep physically active and keep moving.”

But before making a full-time return to the gym, Pasternak, who has worked with Milla Jovovich, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson, says moms should make sure their doctor has given them medical clearance.

“When you’re coming back, you want to do it gradually,” he said. “Most people have been a lot less active, not just during the nine months that they’re pregnant, but in the several months after, sometimes up to six months after that, so to come back hardcore is just dangerous.”

After building up their stamina, Pasternak puts his clients on a 5-phase program that’s utilized five days a week.

“Phase 1 is a cardio warm-up. It can be something as simple as walking outdoors with your baby or doing stationary cardio, such as jumping jacks or jumping rope without a jump rope, for at least five minutes,” he said.

“Phase 2, we do upper body strength, lower body strength and abdominals. We repeat that circuit of three things, three times. Phase 5 is a cardio cool-down. Run, jog, walk, or jump rope for at least five minutes.”

Based on what a client wants to concentrate on, the program can be further focused, as was the case with Hudson and Jovovich.

“The back row is important [for Jennifer],” Pasternak said. “Quite often, when you’re with your baby, you tend to be slouched a bit. It really helps your shoulders come back and your mid-section. Milla’s really big into stiff leg dead lifts, toning and tightening the backs of her thighs and her butt.”

Just as important, moms should also be aware of their nutrition when returning to working out.

“It’s important to get back to eating five times a day, three meals and two snacks,” Pasternak said, noting that meals should consist of a low-fat protein, a healthy carbohydrate, a fiber, a sugar-free beverage and a healthy fat. “And it’s also great to have a multi-vitamin.”
