The Remaking of America

I believe the government shutdown is part of a revolution currently underway in America. As it progresses, the revolution may or may not be accompanied by violence but – if it succeeds –  it will bring radical change.

The pundits I listened to late into the night seemed unaware of this threat. They blamed the Trump regime’s “incompetence” for the misunderstandings that precipitated the shutdown. But I think it’s worse than that.

I think the chaos is deliberate.

The president was not uninformed or confused when he double-crossed legislators who brought him a bipartisan deal on DACA, a deal that would have averted the shutdown. His mixed signals were part of a larger plan.

Trump and his ilk came to Washington not to “make America great again” by building on what the American society has achieved over the years but by demolishing everything that has been built up and replacing it with a Utopia of their own.

You may be familiar with Naomi Klein’s book, “The Shock Doctrine.”  In the book, Klein says neo-liberal politicians  often create political crises as cover for their unpopular policies. I believe that’s the kind of strategy Trump is using.

Steve Bannon is reported to have said:

I’m a Leninist. Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal, too. I want to bring everything crashing down and destroy all of today’s establishment.

And while Bannon is no longer in the White House and no longer influential, that policy survives among Trump’s advisers

One of Trump’s most trusted advisers is a man named Stephen Miller, who is an unabashed opponent of diversity. He was described by The Washington Examiner as:

…a fierce advocate of Trump’s strict immigration (policies) who some regard as a Bannon protegé,

I would call him a racist revolutionary. And his influence on Trump is obvious.

Consider, for example, the RAISE Act. You might recall that Trump lavishly praised the proposed legislation. It is what he wants for this country. And it is plainly designed to ensure America will be white and English speaking for generations to come

Here’s how the Miami Herald explained it:

The Raise Act would cut legal immigration by half over the next 10 years, close the door to people who don’t speak English upon arrival, and prioritize skills over family reunification, abandoning that sacrosanct and humanitarian tenet of U.S. immigration policy.

Obviously, Trump’s plan has no room for Latin American “Dreamers.” He wants Norwegians – blonde, blue-eyed Norwegians.

How many times does he have to say it before the pundits get it?
