A New Jersey appeals court ruled Monday that Carl Lewis cannot run for a state Senate seat from Burlington County, but the lawyer for the Olympian said he would continue to fight for a spot on the ballot.
In a written opinion, a three-member panel of the Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division said Lewis did not meet the state’s residency requirement for Senate candidates.
The state appeals court affirmed an April 26 decision by Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, who acted in her role as the secretary of state, New Jersey’s highest ranking elections official. William Tambussi, Lewis’ attorney, said he would appeal to the state Supreme Court. Read more >>
