Jumping on Tessanne Chin’s success on NBC “The Voice”, Jamaica’s TVJ has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the show hence blocking it from being shown live on Jamaican cable provider, FLOW.
TVJ will be showing “The Voice” at least an hour AFTER the live broadcast on NBC. FLOW the popular cable provider will have disrupt their programming and find something to replace “The Voice” .
The move by TVJ is being hailed as brilliant by some and stupid by others. The majority of Jamaicans do not have cable TV (FLOW) hence they will now be able to view the “The Voice” on TVJ. This will bring increased viewership to TVJ and a new higher priced advertising time slot. However could this move cost Tessanne Chin winning “The Voice”? The majority of Jamaicans will be able to watch however they won’t be able to vote during the live broadcast? There is also the social media buzz that Tessanne Chin get’s during a live show which can lead to votes.
Could this TVJ move prevent Tessanne Chin from winning “The Voice”?
