February is both Black History month and Reggae month. This display is the perfect tribute to Black History month and Reggae month. It’s a display of Bob Marley’s “Get up stand up”. It is a part of the permanent memorial to the 4 girls who died in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama on September 15, 1963. The statue and display are both in Kelly Ingram park which is just across the street from the church and the Civil Rights Institute, all are in the heart of the Birmingham Civil Rights District.

Thanks to Pauline Ford-Caesar for the photos and information on this display. Pauline is the President of the Central Alabama Caribbean American Organization (CACAO)
