Odean Skeen: I am ready

Young sprinting star Odean Skeen cannot wait to get on the track at today’s Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures National Junior Championships inside the National Stadium.

The championships will act as a trial to select teams to next month’s IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France for 16- and 17-year-olds as well as the Junior Pan American Championships for 18 and 19-year-olds in Florida. Read more>>

  • Count me in!! I will not knowingly buy any product promoted by the Koch brothers, just as I am not buying anything made in China, if I can possibly help it. As a friend of Anita’s from Columbia said, “I am fed up to the ’tilt’ with those thieving rascalls”. Billy G.

  • I never buy those products anyway (I prefer Seventh Generation). So I think I’m perfectly good in joining here.

  • Well, I found the Environmental Literary Council expecting an astroturf group with global warming denialism, but this seems not to be the case. So I would check out these organizations out individually before going off on a tear. It’s not inconceivable that they donate to some “good guys”, if only as cover. http://www.enviroliteracy.org/article.php/1334.html

  • these two have done more to undermine our elections , undermine our democracy, influence supreme court justice thomas , deciding vote for cit united case , than anyone , perhaps karl rove , in recent US history !!

  • How did Public Employees get the right to unionize in the first place? And what do Public Employee Unions do with the dues they collect? A large percentage of those dollars are spent on campaigns for liberal candidates who are sympathetic to their desires and are thereby culpable contributors to the problem. Naturally, the unions are out to protect their own well-being – but at what cost? Do I think that the Tea Party is the answer? Hells No! But neither is continuing to fund the outrageous (in some cases) entitlements the unions have negotiated for themselves.

  • Without the unions negotiating on behalf of their members, the rest non union fields would suffer. To be competitive corporations have to entice workers with benefits. If the benefits for government workers were eliminated, how soon do you think the private sector would lower theirs? Unions should be more flexible with an eye towards the total good of the company or state or employing entity, but without collective bargaining would anyone get raises? They haven’t so far, and face it, teachers salaries and not very high. By the way, did you know that Wisconsins pension fund is fully funded? There is no money coming from the coffers to pay the retirees, the money comes from the fund. I guess if they collected money toward the fund, then they could apply to state debits, but they don’t need to, because they are about .04 away from paying 100% of all the projected retirement payments.
