Photo Credit: Joshua Woroniecki I miss songs that brings hope, more joy, Love, in each life; those presence that remind me To look within and I’ll find the strength, To love someone other than my own life: When I have been hurt, when I have been displeased About how I have been treated, how I fail myself, My love ones, and I: When loss, somehow are A part of one’s life: I miss the songs that Refresh my own memory, to always be hopeful, touched hearts, to have faith to rise: And songs that cherish one’s heart, share stories Of great ancestors, how they fought, How they stood strong, how they withstand The tedious miles: And inform its listeners, That we are worthy, loved, valued, and more Than what we allow, what is not right, in one’s life: I appreciate the poetic songs that teach all race Of generation, that we are not a moment recreation, A moment pleasure, we are on the journey to free The souls that are trap, depress, in bondage and that we are one of the kinships children That must learn to keep the faith, value the self, Each other, value mankind: And see the reflection Of our ancestor’s bravery, in our own life: I appreciate the songs, that inform its listener, inform me, that we belong to a regal kinship man, A regal kingship woman A regal kingship child, learning what it means To connect to a higher self, to help all humanity Tap into the sacred part of their hearts, To keep the peace and rejoice, to the breath of life: Songs that share wisdom, reminding me, That I gave birth, to three priceless, wealthy, And brilliant lives. © 2023 Empress Journee
