I don’t have to tell you those Tea Party people have a lot of nerve. They will look you in the eye and tell you the biggest lie with a straight face. And they can count on Fox News to repeat – and embellish – their lies.
But I didn’t think even the Tea Party could come up with this one.
They’re pretending to be bent out of shape by a remark Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa made at the Labor Day AFL-CIO rally.
Here’s what Hoffa said:
Everybody here’s got to vote. If we go back and keep the eye on the prize, let’s take these son of a b——s out and give America back to America where we belong!
Prompted by a typical Fox News editing job, the right wingers are claiming that Hoffa’s remark urged violence against Tea Party activists.
Yep, the very same right wingers who have been calling on their cronies to kill the liberals, and in a few cases getting their crazy followers to actually do so.
Fox News spun the story as “union thuggery” after airing the Hoffa quote as:
We’ll remember in November who’s with the working people… let’s take these sons of b—–s out.
Naturally, the Republicans are attacking President Obama (what’s new about that?) for appearing at the event, and (get a load of this one) “sanctioning violence against fellow Americans.”
Even Fox had to concede later on that Hoffa (in New York Times photo above) wasn’t calling for violence but was actually urging the crowd to vote out Republican members of Congress. But by then the damage was done; the blogosphere was ablaze and the airwaves were sizzling.
As for the SOB remark, if anyone deserves it those Tea Party creeps do.
Think of the things they’ve called America’s president, just because he’s black. Think of the racist cartoons and sleazy emails, the “Nazi” and “Hitler” signs, the monkey dolls, T-shirts and so on, the display of guns and not-so-veiled threats against his life.
These are the people who are so delicate that a common cuss word offends them?
The way right-wing legislatures have been beating up on the labor movement, I wouldn’t blame Hoffa if he got mad enough to threaten their rotten hides. But the fact is he didn’t.
Of course, facts are the last thing Tea Party people worry about.
